The Russia chooses San Francesco
/They went from distant Russia to know the Clinica San Francesco’s activities, the Italian leader facility for the robotic prosthetic surgery, officially recognized by the Veneto Region as “Reference facility for the Robotic Orthopaedic Surgery”.
The surgeon, MD, Piergiuseppe Perazzini, Director of the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Functional Unit and his staff (physicians, nurses, anesthetists and physiotherapists) hosted for one week, since 22nd to 26th July 2019, a foreign delegation of physicians and nurses from various hospitals of Moscow.
The health personnel made up of ten orthopaedic physicians and ten nurses got a chance to know the activities and how the latter are carried out. Today the Clinica San Francesco in Italy and Europe is considered an excellence facility in the knee and hip robotic replacement sector. Indeed, Dr. Perazzini in 2011 was the first orthopaedic surgeon outside the USA to carry out a knee prosthetic implantology operation with the robotic system Mako, and to date, although the robotic surgery is spreading like wild fire in Italy and Europe, the doctor boasts the largest clinical records of robotic knee and hip replacement and therefore a consolidated experience.
«I am proud that our Clinic has been chosen for this apprenticeship, aimed to know the robotic orthopaedic world and many other sectors of surgery; – Dr. Perazzini commented – during the visit the facility organization, the therapeutic protocols, risk management and other aspects of health activity were illustrated, making the Clinic a centre of excellence. We laid the foundation for a closer cooperation both in scientific field and patient’s surgical treatment» .
But that’s not all. The Clinica San Francesco is known also for its approach to care of patient, thanks to the use of new technologies and personalization of treatments and therapies. In this respect the Russian delegation “touched”: the application of artificial intelligence in operating room, postoperative rehabilitation and patients’ assessment; the protocols which define the Clinic as “Hospital without pain” and finally what it means to carry out a personalized therapy considering the patient since admission until discharge and follow up. Then the Russian medical and nurse staff knew the conservative and regenerative procedure articulations deployed by Dr. Perazzini and his staff thanks to the graft of autologous adipose tissue. Indeed, the facility for a long time has been taking care of using the mesenchymal cells, from adipose tissue, to delay the prosthetic operation of hip, knee and many other articulations”.
“From all of course participants I warmly thank all the San Francesco’s staff – Svetlana Ushakova, Head of the Moscow’s International Affairs and Cooperation Centre Project declaired -. We thank the Directorate and all those who participated to the training period of our physicians and thanks for the warm welcome they reserved us. During our visit we were able to see how the Clinic operates, in particular the Orthopaedic and Traumatology ward. We want to thank again the Hospital Management and the AEEO firm, represented by Mr Fabio Volpe. The main aim of our visit, as well as the study and the invaluable exchange of experience in orthopaedics, is also to encourage the development and foster the consolidation of the relationship between Italy and Russia and I think it is an objective that we can consider achieved. We note that the Italian and Moscow physicians have built a trust and friendship relationship. We are open to a continuous collaboration and we hope to consolidate further our friendship relationship”.
