Functional Assessment
Precise an in-depth analysis for individual physiotherapeutical and rehabilitative therapies
The functional physiotherapeutical assessment is useful to identify the best therapy for the patient. All the professionals of the Clinica San Francesco’s physiotherapy and rehabilitation ward before to choose the rehabilitative path, proceed with a careful patient’s anamnesis and, according to needs, postural assessment, muscle tests and proprioceptive and athletic tests.
Postural assessment
Clinically the posture represents a fundamental element for the diagnosis of a skeletal muscle or visceral dysfunction.
The postural test provides for an analysis of the person in all space levels: the physiotherapist by dedicated equipment can highlight the existence of imbalances or deficit and sketch out an appropriate global programme of postural rehabilitation.
Therapeutic indications
- Prevention
- Articular arthrosis pains (hip, knee, shoulder)
- Muscle contractures
- Postural imbalances (hyperkyphosis, scoliosis)
- Orthopaedic deformities (flatfoot, hollow foot, valgus deviation or varus deviation of knee)
Muscle and proprioceptive tests
The muscle and proprioceptive tests represent a good assessment method of several rehabilitation phases.
The muscle test allows to fix the strength and quality of muscle contraction and describes its possible need of recovery. The proprioceptive test, thanks to specific instruments, highlights deficit in muscle activation time and, consequently, in movement and balance quality.
Thanks to these tests the physiotherapist can propose to patient an individual and highly personalized rehabilitation plan.
Athletic tests
The physiotherapist carries out the athletic test to assess the athlete’s fitness both for aerobic and anaerobic abilities. During the examination different kind of tests are carried out: aerobic, lactacyd, strength and speed.
Among the athlete tests, the Bosco’s method, Conconi’s and Coverciano’s test and Leger test stand out.
The tests are carried out at the beginning and during the sport athletic rehabilitation phases to achieve a comprehensive overview of improvements and performances.
