Clinica San Francesco at the SICOT World Congress in Kuala Lumpur

Clinica San Francesco, once again in the world elite of upper limbs robotic surgery.
Drs Enrico Carità and Alberto Donadelli, orthopaedic surgeons of Hand, Wrist and Elbow Functional Unit attended to the 42th SICOT (Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie) World Congress held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) since Wednesday 28thSeptember to Friday 30th September 2022, an important event that brought together the leading worldwide orthopaedic professionals.
The specialized orthopaedists submitted four reports in different sessions: on rhizoarthrosis (Dr Carità – session Symposium 2: Rhizoarthrosis), trapeziometacarpal prosthesis, scapholunate ligament treatment (Donadelli – session Symposium 1: The lesion of Scapholunate Complex), and total wrist prosthesis. On March 2021 Drs, Carità, Donadelli and Laterza, performed the first operations in Italy of wrist ligament reconstruction and rhizoarthrosis prosthesis implant with the help of augmented reality, that is using 3D viewers, visualizing the operating field and patient information.
Thanks to the work of Hand, Wrist and Elbow orthopaedic surgeons specialists, the Clinic in July 2021 received an important award, becoming reference centre of SICM (Hand Surgery Italian Society). The Clinica San Francesco is also Veneto Region reference centre (since 2019) for the robotic orthopaedic surgery, as well as European Robotic Orthopaedic Centre (CORE – Centro di Ortopedia Robotica Europeo) – since 2013 – with intensive training activities for surgeons from all over the Europe.
